Dalat- Vietnam’s honeymoon town nestles in a mountain valley at an elevation of 1,500 m. Dalat looks like an old French city and it was founded in 1897 when doctor Alexandre Yersin recommended that the area be developed as a resort town.

The climate is temperate and the cool evenings attract newly weds from all over Vietnam. This area is dotted with lakes, waterfalls, green forests and gardens. Dalat is in the central coast of Vietnam, in the Lang Biang Mountains. Linked by road and rail with the coast at Phan Rang, the city is the market center for locally grown vegetables and for nearby coffee, tea and rubber plantation. Dalat was once the summer capital and there are many villas in the city, including those of the former emperor Bao Dai, the governors of Cochin China.

The first hotel was built in Dalat around 1907. It was made completely out of wood and was called Hotel du Lac or Lakeside hotel. Here is the largest and elegant hotel in this region. Besides, Da Lat has many grand villas built by French official during the early part of the century.

Nowadays, tourists not only limit themselves to Dalat, they also visit the area of Lang Biang highland and the villages of ethnic minorities nearby.
